Day dreamer and Believer: October 2020

Hey heyyy! It's already November!!! It has been 8 long months already since this pandemic outbreak in our country happened yet we're still in quarantine period! Where did that 8 months went? A lot of things could have happened and plans succeeded. But thinking deeper of how the past 8 months has brought me I realized that God has a better plan for me while I'm waiting for my dentist dream to come true. He gave me the knowledge and strength to start something that I would forever be thankful for and that is no other Shai Bakes and my blog, missdream-girl.

One thing I'm excited with the -ber months is first, Holidays is fast approaching!!! I love seeing lively shows and hearing Christmas carols everywhere. Second, I'm in love with this season because of the weather. Even though we don't experience fall nor winter in our country, it's still gets colder during these months. Third, I'm excited for the festivities that are coming! There's nothing more exciting than being part of festivities especially the ones with your family and friends!

Speaking of family festivities, one of my aunt is getting married this coming December and I can't wait to see her in her beautiful wedding dress and be part of her wedding! I know she's been preparing for it for so long already because she's suppose to tie the knot last summer but because of the lockdown she and her husband has to move it this coming December. Nonetheless, I'm so excited for her and I really look forward to see her wedding set up including her bridesmaids in their lovely dresses.

Knowing that I'm a fashion blogger and a little expert with styling, my aunt did asked me a few recommendations on what style could I suggest for her entourage, what shops do I know which offer affordable yet beautiful designs and the like. I'm sure I was able to be a big help when I told her about Alfabridal. I've been talking about Alfabridal for several times already on my blog and every time I am asked what do I recommend, I always remember them.

I'm a big fan of cold shoulder tops and dresses and one thing that I'd recommend for a bridesmaid's dress is this style. I just love the flattering and sexy cut without showing too much skin. It comes in different colors- from pastel to dark so you'll have a lot to choose from.

As for the design of the dress, one of the recommendation I can give is to put some spark on it! I've always wanted a Cinderella like wedding theme and it means also having to bring it in my bridesmaid dresses like these glittery ones.

Lastly, I would recommend a red velvet wine dress. Why? Because it's one of the most elegant color that I've always liked. Look how beautiful these dresses look.

As you've seen in my previous posts I've been feeling giddy and hyped with the idea of a onesie party! Who wouldn't want to attend in one, right?? I've asked my cousins if we could do a themed party like this for our Christmas family reunion and I'm glad that they're go for it! Apart from all the cuteness that this party is known for, I also want to share with you some of my thoughts why I really want to push it!

First, I want to see everyone's happy and smiling faces with the outfits that they have. Who wouldn't dare smile in these very colorful and cute outfits! I bet everyone will love it and take lots of pictures in it.

Second, I want it to be something unique and different from the previous parties that we had. During the previous years, it has been a tradition to have a family reunion before New Year's Eve. We don't actually stick to any family dress code and a themed party just excites me! It's something I want everyone to prepare for!

Third, onesies are one of the most comfortable thing to wear! With it being made in fine flannel and super fleece I know it's going to be a hit for the kiddos who'll be running and playing all throughout the party!

Fourth, it's affordable! I didn't even thought of it too! I thought onesies are expensive but I was wrong. I visited Alfagoody and got hooked up with the amount of really nice yet affordable onesies! A lot of items are actually on SALE now from their site. Holiday SALEs are showing up from time to time and I think it's the perfect season to go on shopping while products are still marked down.

I got a few pieces to show in our family group chat so they can have an idea of what they would wear for our family reunion. I'm excited for this!!!

Here's something for the kids to wear!!! I can imagine my younger cousins going around with these animal costumes everywhere! Hahaha

Way back college, when department parties were still a thing, my friends and I would always attend every year's party so we could dress up, wear the most fashionable clothes in theme and enjoy the whole night of fun and music. We would arrive in the nicest make-up and high heels and would take lots of pictures and memories to look back too. The Dent parties that I attended to for the past 6 years have been all about sparkles and glitters and I realized that there's something lacking. We weren't able to be granted our most requested theme, the pajama/onesie party!

We've always wanted be in the most comfortable outfits and experience enjoying the whole night like a one big sleep over party in school. I don't know why but it was in our circle's bucket list! I know it wouldn't happen already in our university because we are already graduates but we'll make it happen for sure if we'll be given the chance to have a girls' night soon!

Speaking of onesies, I've came across Alfagoody- an online store that sells animal themed one piece pajamas for children and adults. I've browsed some of their products and got super giddy with the designs that they have. It gave me a wishful thinking to attend a themed onesie party even in this time of pandemic (kahit sa bahay lang!!!) or host a friends' sleepover reunion wherein everyone's wearing the cutest onesies that they have! How cute is that right?!! Ahhh, that would be so exciting!!!

Aside from the cute designs, their pajamas are made of fine flannel and super fleece. Thinking of it makes me convinced already on how comfortable it would feel like wearing it. Hey guys! As promised, I will be updating my blog more often starting this week because I really missed this online platform that I have. It's my way of expressing my thoughts and my way of telling stories from my own perspective that I want to share with all my readers. As for my comeback, I decided to put on a category on my blog titled "Shai Recommends". In here, I'll put on my recently discovered items that I'm so addicted about, the online shopping websites that I love- their items present on their site and on SALE products and the foods that I've always wanted to share with everyone. For my first entry, I want to share with you one of my recently discovered online shopping website, Hexinfashion.

It's that time of the year again when Autumn has finally come and is much appreciated in every country that experiences 4 seasons. I know everyone has prepared for their outfits already but with another season coming (my favorite), going in autumn outfit is not enough to combat the cold weather in winter. I know most of you are already preparing for it and a lot are starting to buy added warmers, heat techs and sweaters. I have been addicted browsing an online shop that I've recently discovered that sells cheap sweater dresses that have the cutest cuts and styles! I thought of sharing it here on the blog because this online shop is worth sharing for! Let me show you some of my recommendations.

This is the first dress that got my attention! Look how classy it looks. The color is perfect but if there's a color red of this dress, I'd probably get it too. I love the fit of this dress on the model and the shoulder detail made it sexy while being conservative. This is something I'd probably wear in a holiday reunion with my family.

Here's to my second loved sweater dress. Look at the cut! I know it's going to be a versatile one since it can be worn either at the back or front. It's looks so damn sexy! I also love the vertical pattern that it has. It makes one look slimmer. I'd probably wear this to a night out with friends on the holidays.

Third eye catcher is this mystic blue dress. I love the conservative yet sexy slit on the side. I love that Hexin also caters plus size dresses like this one. It's a plus for me! :)

Aside from sweater dresses, another category that I loved from this shop is their cheap bodysuits best Black Friday Deals 2020. Hello everyone!!! I have been MIA during the past few months because I opened up a home based business that's keeping me busy every single day since the day we started. I have a long story to tell and a lot to share and I'm happy that I finally have the time to do it now.
With all the things that's happening now I have so many what ifs in my mind. I think a lot. I'm thinking if for how long am I still gonna wait for this pandemic to end and start my life as a working and earning woman who's slowly building and investing on her dreams. This waiting game brought out the best in me. For some reason, I feel like I'm already old enough to be still dependent to my single mom who earns and provides for the family. I'm already a college graduate, a degree holder of Doctor of Dental Medicine, but still has no license because of the cancellation of the board exam last May and on December. I have my whole life this 2020 figured already. I started reviewing for boards since last January 2020. I was thinking that after I passed the boards, I will work with my tita as an associate dentist and will still be a part time blogger. Years after I become an established dentist, I want to learn baking and start a pastry shop business beside my dental clinic. It makes me happy whenever I think how my life would have been if this pandemic didn't happen. But things went upside down- waiting became longer and dreams went on hold.

During early June, I decided to try baking again like it was my first time. I tried baking 2 years ago, but everything was a fail. I don't know why the pastries that I tried to bake didn't came up with how it's supposed to look. I tried a few times and repeat it again but still, it failed. Fast forward to 2020 when this pandemic happened and all I was left were notes in preparation for boards, I decided to try baking again as an outlet whenever I feel like I cannot absorb the lectures anymore. I don't have any baking instruments to be honest. I borrowed my lola's oven toaster (the one in the picture above), my tita's extra measuring cups and bought a few basic ingredients- flour, sugar, baking powder.. and started baking. I don't know if it's just me but I'm grateful from where I started. I know a lot wouldn't believe but this oven toaster will forever hold a special place in my heart. It is where Shai Bakes started. It is what I used for the first month where I baked 1,700 + cookies in the first two weeks. I wake up really early because it can only accommodate 6 cookies at a time and we have set our delivery hours during lunch time. Imagine the panic and stress it brought me hahaha! Starting a business means risking the only amount that you have and working hard to make that very small start up into something bigger. I started with a budget of Php 2,000 and didn't expected for it to grow. Being in a business also means being open minded to all the possibilities that can happen. Businesses doesn't become successful overnight. It takes months to years and it requires a lot of guts and hard work.

For the first 3 weeks of Shai Bakes, I can only bake classic chocolate chip cookies. I'm not ashamed of that because it's the OG cookies where Shai Bakes is now known for. I also don't know if people only say it's delicious because most of my first customers are my friends or they just loved how it tastes like. Repeat orders and repeat customers made me believe that my products are worth coming back for. From classic chocolate chip cookies, I decided to add red velvet, double chocolate and s'more cookies.

I was asked once if I could bake something that's healthier and I came up with lemon crinkles and lemon bars. I only have few customers for these 2 products but I want to market it and suggest my customers to try it since I want these two to be appreciated and known in Batangas. Lemon bars are my personal favorite in my menu. It's for you to find out why! :)

I have decided to put cinnamon rolls too on my menu and it surprisingly became an instant crowd favorite!

My blueberry minis started my cheesecake series! It's crazy how my cheesecakes became in demand since September started and I receive orders of it almost everyday.

My first cake was also a blueberry cheesecake which I made as a request from a friend. It's funny to think how everything went so fast. From opening on July 5th with only classic chocolate chip cookies on my menu, to baking a cake in less than 2 months, and now receiving orders everyday (I only have certain delivery days before like twice a week.)

Then came strawberry cheesecake...

And now with added mango and oreo flavors. There are still a lot to come and I'm excited to share it with you soon!

Shai Bakes is one of the best thing that happened to me this year. I may not be able to follow my planned timeline but God redirected me to something unexpected that's now a big part of my life. I'm 3 months baking now and I already have my own baking equipment given by Pau. He never failed to send me a helping hand and show his support even if he's not physically by myside all the time. I also wouldn't be able to achieve all of these without my mom and brother's all out support. They were my backbone and crying shoulder when I feel down and tired. Shai Bakes wouldn't be standing for 3 months without my strong support system and I couldn't be more thankful for their presence. My customers and their orders are my happiness now. Their satisfaction is my satisfaction too.

I really hope this little business of mine would reach more people especially this coming holidays. I'd love to see more satisfied and happy customers with my baked goods!

There's one last thing I want to say, that is to never stop praying and wishing for your dreams to come true. Start small, work hard, and slowly, it will be given to you. Be proud of yourself for what you have achieved.
